Overhaul a college brand to recapture the recruiting magic the institution once enjoyed and significantly boost alumni engagement and support in an era of declining state funding.


A reinvigorated brand emerged from our work with the University’s independent Foundation and University leadership resulting in a refreshed visual expression throughout academic, athletic, alumni and community communications. Based on a modernized W heritage visual element and strong connection to the high altitude mountain environment the University is known for, we built a compelling call to action for alumni to engage, support, step up and Western Up.

The First Annual Running of the Red (ROTR) at Western State Colorado Unversity. When more than 100 of the world's top cyclists in the USA Pro Challenge rolled through Gunnison and made three loops around the Western campus on Aug. 20, they were greeted by nearly as many students, faculty and staff in crimson unitards, bearing Western's bold W logo in the "Running of the Red."
